INTERVIEW WITH CA.RUCHIKA KATYAL WHO CLEARED HER UPSC EXAMS WITH 176th RANK.

Hello ruchika,

Its good to have u here with us today, All of us are proud of you . First of all heartiest congratulations to you for this success and wish that  you climb up more such ladders in future also…

Before starting  the interview , once again I would like to congratulate you for this success on everybody’s behalf. Here are the few questions which we are really keen to know from u:-

1.     What is your  ambition in life…I mean first you did CA and now Civil Services Exam..whats more on the cards.????

I wanted to be part of something which can directly help me contribute towards society. Civil services is a platform which provides the opportunity to be part of the system and work. Its just a new beginning, lets see where it takes me to.

2.     How did you manage your Civil Services  exam …were you working also or did u concentrate only on ur exams…as after CA hardly anyone sits at home???

I had very less time from the beginning, so I enrolled in coaching classes, tried managing the work and time efficiently.  Hence I could not work fulltime while preparing for the exam.

3.     What was the strategy that you adopted for your studies , we would really like to know that, as it would definitely help many who are planning for such kind of examinations.????

I started with concentrating on things one by one and setting targets accordingly. Focused approach helped in concentrating. Time management also played an important role.

4.     Proper time utilization has always been very important behind any success story..everyone has got the same 24 hrs day…ur success depends on how efficiently u are able to  manage that…How did u manage ur time to get this success?? ..we would like you to share that with all our users..

We need to believe strongly that there are no shortcuts and therefore the entire energy & effort should be in one direction. Planning and prioritization was very important, since I had limited time.

5.     Who has been your inspiration in this whole journey, to whom u will give this credit..I hope it wud not be any single person…but many…???

My family and friends have always been behind me in any decision that I’ve taken till date and it was the same this time too. The success is the result of their unconditional support only.

6.     Did u take some coachings for this purpose ??? and what material did u referred for this purpose plss share this wid us as it wud help our users also.

I took classes for a part of the syllabus. It helped me develop the right approach. Also the material used was a combination of newspapers, books, sample papers, magazines, TV, internet etc.

7.     There are many people out there who are inspired from u..especially all the CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS..what is the message that u wud like to  convey them??

I would say that hardwork is the key to success and one should never forget the end goal since that is the source of motivation.

8.     Did u never get distracted from your ultimate goal…first u did CA n then civil services…this shows how determined u were towards ur aim…wud u like to share this secret wid all of us ..that helped u to maintain that discipline everytime???

Being a CA helped boost my confidence, since I had something to fall back on, in case things did not go as planned. There were times when I would think about the situation, since there is a lot of uncertainty involved. But again that helped me in concentrating more since I had taken time off and had to make the best use of the time.

9.     What are your hobbies…what is ur favorites pass time, except studies??

I like to read in my spare time. Also I have strong interest in outdoor sports activities and music.

10.   Did u never relax after becoming a CA and getting attached wid a big name E&Y..n earning well??? What motivated u to further study for IAS examinations???

The journey, however hard may be, was enjoyable indeed.. Be it CA internship, slogging hard during exams and Civil services preparation. After the completion of CA, the move towards preparation for civil services was a conscious one since I wanted to do it since long. So I just decided to follow my heart.

11.   Why did not u directly did IAS, I mean why did you first do CA and then IAS???

I had started CA after my class XII only and I wanted to complete the course before taking the plunge into preparation for civils. Plus, one of my optional subject was commerce so my work actually helped me in the preparation. The work experience also helped develop a sense of maturity and clarity of thought.

U have really made whole rohtak proud and the whole CA community proud. Thanx for taking out ur precious time and coming here and talking to us…once again ,we wish u all the very best for ur future on behalf of the whole CASANSAAR.
